James
Woods, Hollywood Home Game's Patron Saint of Poker
James Woods is one of the most respected and hard-working
actors in Hollywood. He has earned himself the respect that all
actors strive for: the respect of other actors. His intense performances
in more than 70 films TV movies and mini series's have earned him
the reputation as one of the American entertainment world's most
talented, fascinating, varied stars.

two Best Actor in a Motion Picture awards for "Promise"
and "My Name is Bill W." He was nominated for two Oscars,
too, for Best Actor for his incredible performance in "Salvador"
and and Best Supporting Actor for "ghosts of Mississippi."
(I STILL can't believe he didn't win BOTH of them!) On top of these
he has won a Golden Globe, an Obie Award, Clarence Derwent Award
and Theatre World Award, all this from when he was in the New York
theatre before coming West to be a film star. He's been nominated
for 10 Golden Globes, a CableAce Award, and won the American Critics
Award and the Golden Satellite Award twice.
James Woods exploded onto the scene in Hollywood
when he appeared in "The Onion Field" as the portrait
of evil. Other incredible portrayals of his include his roles in
"Once Upon A Time in America," :Against All Odds,"
"Videodrome," "Casino," and "True Believer."
But one of the best ways to tell how well-respected he is is by
the number of great directors who continue to work with him, like
Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Clint Eastwood, Rob Reiner, Sophia
Coppola and Robert Zemeckis. His skill in bringing incredible reality
to every character he plays is reflected in the fact that he has
brought more real life characters to the movie screen than any other
top actor.
